![]() ![]() Less experienced individuals shouldn’t have any troubles working with this program, thanks to its flawless integration and intuitive interface. You get a "Spoiler Free" trophy if you don't use any of the in-game hints (although, with the cumulative trophy feature, you could theoretically play through once and use all the hints then play a second time, not use the hints, and still get the trophy.) I just wish Nancy could call Ned (or Frank.) :(įor me, the incentive not to use the solution feature lies in getting all the trophies. I only played through it once, so maybe it will grow on me with repeat playing, but it was just. I liked the characters okay but Sonny wasn't nearly as wacky as I expected him to be based on all the clues to his personality in earlier games. The tasks and puzzles didn't feel super interesting or fun to me either. I won't go into details about the story-I don't want to spoil anything- but I will say I wasn't left with a sense of closure when the game ended. ![]() I do have to say though, after seeing the teaser trailer for the next game I am SUPER excited!ĭisappointing. Where Dead Kings fares better though is in terms of its new features, and the increased emphasis on stealth. So not only is the story a jumbled mess of half a dozen unrelated ideas but the combat and parkour is just as listless and unexciting as it was back in November. ![]() The problem with any DLC releasing so soon after the main game is that it has no opportunity to learn from or address the earlier failures. That’s a perfectly reasonable concept, but in typical Assassin’s Creed fashion the plot instantly becomes overcomplicated with out-of-character betrayals, the shoe-horning in of Napoléon Bonaparte, and, for some reason, a kid sidekick. Set after the events of the main game, we imagine Dead Kings probably started out with the very simple premise of locating an artefact for the Marquis de Sade – with the idea that the game could throw in some supernatural elements and become a sort of 18th century Indiana Jones pastiche. Most of the story missions actually take place in the catacombs beneath the city, creating a very different atmosphere, that almost edges into survival horror territory at times. Or at least that’s the case above ground. It’s set in what is today Saint-Denis, in the northern suburbs of Paris, and as you can imagine this means it looks very similar to the original game – except obscured by a permanent layer of fog. Dead Kings takes place on a brand new map that is roughly a quarter the size of the existing Paris area.
